A decorated cake has been part of my twin girl’s birthday celebration for their first 3 years. That is until I gave cupcakes a try and since then I have never looked back. Cupcakes have become an integral part of my girls’ birthday for the past few years.
Here’s why I became best friends with cupcakes on birthday occasions. Traditional cakes did the job initially, when my kids were still under 3 years old. I noticed that parents enjoyed the cake more than the children. And why shouldn’t they? It was a well decorated cake that tasted good.
Unfortunately for the children, it was a different matter. First, they had to struggle with the fork which of course resulted in a plantation of cake around the plate. The sugary part was simply not very accessible to them; not to forget fighting over decoration like characters or edible items.
Replacing the traditional cake with cupcakes worked wonders. For a start, they taste as good as the traditional cake. The price tag is also more reasonable since a custom themed cake can exceed $50 easily (double for me since I have twins!).
But it’s not only about the money here!
By offering Cupcakes, you can offer a wide variety of flavors that your small guests can enjoy. You can do the cooking at home or buy them ready from your favorite bakery shop. Decorating your cupcakes according to the birthday theme has become super easy thanks to a diverse offering of printable cupcake toppers and wrappers.
Serving dressed up cupcakes can have the same presentation feel and actually look much nicer wrapped and topped in different designs. This do it yourself dress up is actually the fun part of preparing a birthday since it quickly turns into a family crafting project. You can grab pretty much your whole party supplies in printable form these days.
Kids love to print, cut and wrap; girls simply love decorating their cupcakes with Barbie toppers and wrappers. Would any boys want to miss the opportunity to decorate their superhero birthday cupcakes with their favorite characters? (I have to confess that I enjoy this as much as them!)
Oh, and on the day of the event, each kid gets to pick his favorite figure. No more fights over decorations!
Cupcakes, these small cakes designed to serve a single person, eliminate the need to use a fork and perfectly fit children’s small hands. More importantly, they are the perfect vehicle for candy and icing to a kid’s mouth minimizing the chances of scrubbing the latter off the carpet after the party is over. No more slicing and dicing, each child simply gets a cute and tasty cupcake.
Young children often enjoy the icing more than the cake itself! And when they feel like eating one more, they just head towards the stand and pick another piece. By posting additional cupcake stands around your party location, you just cut the waiting time to zero.
Finally, remember that for these kids, it’s all about having fun and cupcakes sure make it possible for all of us since they are easy to bake, fun to decorate, tasty to eat and convenient for birthdays or parties.
